Our responsibility

These are our objectives for 2025/2026:

OBJECTIVE 1: By the end of 2026, the food safety certifications (IFS) should be successfully maintained and should remain at the highest level (‘Higher Level’). In addition, the aim is to continue to successfully ensure Organic Certification, Demeter Certification and Halal certification.

OBJECTIVE 2: In spring 2023, the company's own photovoltaic systems with a capacity of 370 KWp were put into operation. The rate of self-consumed electricity averaged 62% in 2023 and 2024. The self-consumption should  be increased to 70% supported by an electricity load management system introduced in spring 2025.

OBJECTIVE 3: A ‘Mental Health Risk Assessment’ which was carried out in 2024. One field of required need for action was the organisation of the break and break room.  This resulted in an employee survey on ‘Satisfaction with the break room’. As a result of this survey we have set ourselves the goal to implement measures in 2025 to create and promote employee satisfaction, health and well-being in the long term.  This will be realised by our newly introduced ‘Health at Maintal’ project team.

Objectives 2023/2024 and Evaluation:

OBJECTIVE 1: By the end of 2024, the food safety certifications (IFS) should be successfully maintained and should remain at the highest level (‘Higher Level’). In addition, the aim is to continue to successfully ensure Organic Certification, Demeter Certification and Halal certification.

Evaluation: Objective was achieved, IFS Food was completed with Higher Level, all other certifications were also successfully passed.

OBJECTIVE 2: From autumn 2023, new planting will be carried out on the vacant area created by the construction work on the new cold storage, which will include at least a 200 m² flowering field and 20 regional, insect/bird-friendly bushes. In addition, a hedge will be planted around the employees' outdoor break area. The aim of the measure is to promote biodiversity. The re-planting should be completed by summer 2024 at the latest.

Evaluation: Objective was achieved. The specified period of time was postponed by one year. A flowering meadow of 200 m² was planted in autumn 2024. Around 70 regional, insect/bird-friendly bushes - including real walnut, privet, red honeysuckle, stonecrop and wild rose bushes - were also planted. A hornbeam hedge was planted around the employees' outdoor break area and a field maple was set to provide shade. We are looking forward to this year's summer of 2025 to welcome a colourful diversity of flowers and plants to our premises.

OBJECTIVE 3: After a preparatory phase lasting almost two years, our digital energy management system will go live at the end of 2023. The installation of various energy/water meters will enable more precise analyses to be carried out and potential savings to be identified. A precise target will be defined once the figures have been determined.

Evaluation: Unfortunately, this objective was not fully achieved. Although energy/water meters have been installed, data collection is currently still prone to errors. Commissioning will take place in the 2nd quarter of 2025.

OBJECTIVE 4: Expand and further development of social sustainability, family orientation and working conditions in order to be and remain an attractive employer in the region for our existing and potential employees.

Evaluation: We are currently one of the top 30 companies in Bavaria in the competition ‘Family-Friendly Company’. The decision and announcement of the placements for 2025 is expected in May 2025.
