The Maintal Konfitüren energy concept
Maintal Konfitüren’s main energy needs comprise power and heat. Heat energy is required mostly in the form of hot steam, and at the same time, large quantities of hot water are needed for cleaning and, in winter, to heat the buildings. In 2014, the Maintal energy concept was completely updated and a microgas system and a new steam boiler were installed, which function on the principle of combined heat and power. To date, the system has led to a reduction of around 127 tons of Co2 per year, which is a saving of 37 %.
Since 2010, more than 10% of the remaining energy required has been covered by our own solar installations. Maintal Konfitüren also procured the remaining power as green power from wind turbines in the district.
